Types of Foundations

Off-late my love for foundations has risen like no other, while I keep searching for my best friend I have compiled a list of types of foundations for all my friends to make their foundation search easier. Your base is exactly what your foundation can create so having a good foundation means half of your deal is done.

Types of foundations

Cream foundation
– Most used product by the Indian skin. Great for all skin types and you get the maximum variety here.

– You can easily get medium or full coverage.
– The best part about this foundation is that it lends a dewy finish. It instantly makes you party ready and gives you a great face for great pics.
– Covers and conceals discolorations and imperfections on the skin to provide you a flawless finish.

Liquid foundation
-We have seen this since childhood, even our mother have banked on liquid foundations like no other.

Is ideal for all skin types. It is well-suited for dry skin.
– Gives the kind of coverage you need with the help of tools like a beauty blender or a brush
– Has a satin, matte or dewy finish depending on the formulation.
– You would usually need a moisturizer base with a liquid foundation for best results.

Pressed powder foundation
– Is best for those who have oily skin.
– It lends a light to medium coverage so it may not be helpful in covering acne
– Has a matte-finish look and you can use a highlighter for a dewy look
– Evens out the skin tone, hides the imperfections and absorbs the excess oil.
– Should be applied with the help of a powder brush. It can be also used as a great summer product if you have a combination skin

Mineral foundation

Ideal for all skin types, except oily. It is specially suited for those with sensitive skin
– Gives a matte finish look and you may add glittered blushers
– Has a light to medium coverage and is powdery in nature
– Evens out the skin tone, moisturizes, protects and absorbs the excess oil.
– Use a brush to buff it on

Tinted moisturizing foundation
– Ideal for normal and dry skin but you have to be sure of the tone before buying it from the store.
– It is well-suited for those who need extra hydration and just a touch of color to pull it off.\

It gives a slight dewy finish which lends a natural look to your face.
– Lightly evens out the skin tone and is a good choice to hide light scars.

A foundation needs to be tried on your face for best results. You need to make sure that your foundation does not look over board or cakey. You should ideally use your fingers or a beauty blender for an even finish on the face and neck. instead of using glittered finish you should use a highlighter.

Best Full Coverage Face Foundations in India

Today I am going to give out the list of my most favorite foundations that are available in India. These are the best ones that I found in the Indian market do share your favorites too in the comments section.

  1. Revlon Photoready Make up Foundation:

3-1  The Photoready foundation creates a dewy finish and makes the skin look glowy and supple. The foundation gets absorbed so soon that it looks like an extension of your own skin and has a long lasting stay. This is the perfect foundation for the weddings or party season as it gives that very fresh glowy party look. The best thing is that you don’t even need a concealer to hide your patches or zits. Since it comes with enough SPF you wont need a dab of sunscreen either. The packaging has a pump like most other foundations available.

Price: INR 850-1000.

  1. Clinique Super Balanced Makeup Foundation:

3-2

This clinique foundation is the best for women with combination or oily skin. It totally understands your skin, if you know what I mean. It gives complete coverage and you would not need any other product like a primer or a concealer. Depending on the oil content of your skin I recommend you may use a basic moisturizer if you need to. It does not break out or create any zits even on the most sensitive skin. It lasts long hours and only a very little quantity is used. It is the best product if you are looking for a more matte finish.

  1. Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation:

You all know how much I adore Estee Lauder products and this one is no different. This is one of the best full coverage foundations in the market and I am saying that out of experience. It settles so easily on the skin that you won’t even need a pressed powder over it. The only drawback is that it does not have enough SPF but it is good enough to go for most of your outings. It rests extremely easily on the skin providing a very long stay.

How to use a Beauty Blender

Eons ago we would see our mothers using her fingers to blend the makeup on to her skin. It would always intrigue me as I thought it worked well but never was a 100 % look. Somebody sitting in some other corner of the world would have understood that there stays a need or the product that helps the women blend the kind of makeup that they want to.

Beauty blenders the small little foam ball like cotton ball that helps you even out your makeup very well. With contouring being a regular fashion for most of the girls today beauty blenders just can’t come out of our vanity kits. Like we have all other tools like makeup brushes, eyelash curler a beauty blender is a must for all of us.

You got it right today we will be talking about beauty blenders. You may not be very excited but trust me once you get the hands on it; it is like any other tool that we use, it becomes a part of your daily routine. You may if you are like me, will never want to look back. Since it is very easy to use you will get familiar with is very soon.

How to use a Beauty Blender –

1.Take the beauty blender and run it under tap water.

  1. Squeeze the excess water to make sure no water is dripping off the sponge.
  2. Now dot the foundation, concealer, blush over the desired areas of the face.

Why is it the wonder blender?

  • It gets you more effect with lesser quantity of the product, and the pointed tip allows you to get into every nook and cranny—under eyes, around the nose, along the lips.
  • It corrects all your mistakes of a wrong blusher, a dark bronzer or anything else. It just evens out your complete face.
  • It protects you from the sun by giving you full coverage with a sunscreen lotion, you may not realize but a drop of it is just enough.

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Amsterdam

Hello my lovelies, every time that I go lipstick surfing red color is always my go to. I agree with all the girls who say a tint of red color can do wonders for us. I would judge a lipstick by its red color and then decide it is worth buying or no. Recently I stumbled upon this NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream online and I have always fallen for the reds by NYX. So I picked up NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Amsterdam after seeing the swatches.

NYX used to be my favorite since my high school much before online businesses came into existence. I got one from a big shop in Mumbai and I lost it on the day of bae’s birthday. I was so full of myself that day that I didn’t realize dropping my wallet and also my favorite red lipcolor.

Product Claims – Neither lipstick nor lip gloss, this Matte lip cream is a new kind of lip color that goes on silky smooth and sets to a Matte finish. Soft Matte Lip Cream is surprisingly durable and, unlike some Matte lipstick formulas, also moisturizing.

Price – 8ml for INR 600

Lip creams are a revolution in the lipcolor segment; I have loved them for their ease of use and rich color. Lip creams come in a packaging like a gloss and dry up like a matte lipstick. The best thing is it does not chap your lips like a normal matte lipstick would do. You might want to use a lip balm as a base if you have superdry and chapped lips like I do.

You can use two lip cream shades and create the perfect ombre lips that are the in thing of the day. Create a base with a lip balm and use a dark shade lip cream for the first color. Add the other lighter shade to create an ombre impression and finish with a transparent gloss.

The color is the prettiest red, it has that English touch to it. It still is quite bright but giving me a desired look every time. It suits very well for my traditional as well as my western outfits. I love to pair it with my black dresses.

Pros of Matte Soft Lip Cream Amsterdam

  • I love the shade, it is the most wearable red
  • Travel friendly packaging
  • It spreads very evenly on the skin
  • Non transfer, longlasting formula

Cons of NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream

  • Little extra dry for my lips

Revlon PhotoReady Skinlights Face Illuminator Review

These days no make-up is complete without a HIGHLIGHTER, wherever you go, whoever you consult people are using highlighters much more than before and also excelling at it. Today we see all makeup enthusiasts banking on this product so I got one which is Revlon PhotoReady Skinlights Face Illuminator in Bare Light and I will review it for you guys today.

Not all brands give you many options to choose from when it comes to highlighters but Revlon has come up with Revlon PhotoReady Skinlights Face Illuminator which is available in 3 shades – Peach lights, Bare lights and Pink lights.

Price is 950 INR for 30ml of product

Shelf life is 3 years

Shades available: Peach, Bare and Pink lights

Product claims: Banish dullness and even out skin with light capturing crystals and photochromatic pigments for a lit-from-within look. Mix with or wear over foundation to banish dullness and even out skin tone.

My experience with Revlon PhotoReady Skinlights Face Illuminator

Packaging – it comes in a slim tube and the color corresponds to the shade you have picked. It has a nozzle button over it so that you can squeeze out the required amount. The package is quite travel-friendly and usable. Only thing since it is too liquid it tends to fall off just by tilting it and you may not need to push the nozzle or else it will lead to wastage.

Usage – you will need a very small quantity of the product and you can use it highlight your cheeks, cupids bow, eye brows and nose in my case. You may use a beauty blender if you are fond of it but I usually stick to my fingers because it works great for me. I can use the right strength and color to blend according to the look I want. The texture is like lotion, with very subtle glitters present and this gives the very natural highlighting finish on the skin. It is good for all skin types. Even the oily skin ones can carry this formula easily as it is light weight and non-greasy. Your skin shows a natural healthy glow with this product and it can be your go to when you are looking for instant pep up to your tired skin. I have used it with a foundation combination. This product comes off very easily with a makeup remover.

Pros –

Easily blended

Natural highlighting

Stays long

Very less quantity is used.

Cons

The nozzle of the package

Can be very subtle

Overpriced

BBlunt Full on Volume Shampoo for Fine Hair Review

You all know that I have thin hair and I was looking for something that could easily fix my problem. Today I will post BBlunt Full on Volume Shampoo for Fine Hair Review. I have chosen this product due to good reviews of people after using Bblunt hair products, I have also visited the Bblunt saloon in Mumbai and I quite liked their work. Infact, hair products from a saloon is a new phenomenon in India and I really feel we should encourage such things to come forward.

Bblunt has a shampoo for almost every kind of hair so this time you can pick up customized products to suit your hair type. They have something for dry hair, frizzy hair, curly hair and thin hair so you have a lot to pick up from. My hair is thin and becomes the very next day of hair wash so ideally if I want the bounce every day I need to wash my hair at least 4 times in a week. So I went ahead and got this online from Nykaa sale.

Product description

Specially designed for fine hair, this conditioner moisturizes without weighing your hair down. Enjoy big, bouncy hair that feels alive. Specially created for Indian hair with a unique colour protect formula.

Price:

Rs. 500 for 400 ml.

Shelf Life:

24 months from packaging

Packaging –

The bottle is shaped like an hour glass so it becomes not so travel friendly. The bottle gets heavier on the lower part and you can’t keep it tilted or something. The nozzle may also leak out some extra shampoo more than you require so it leads to wastage as well. The product is available only in one size so you can’t buy other packages.

Texture –

The shampoo is white in colour. The shampoo has a thick creamy texture. You need to dilute the shampoo to spread it easily on water. The shampoo is really creamy and it almost melts in you hands. It is like applying hair cream to clean your hair.

The shampoo lets your scalp feel fresh after every wash and provides definite volume to your hair. Though if you are looking for amazing results this product is not for you. But it is a good regular usage product.

Garnier Ultra Blends Revitalizing Shampoo Review

Garnier has come up with a new range of shampoos and conditioners to keep all the hair woes at bay. Although my previous experiences with Garnier have not been very great and I have not used their products after Fructis came into being. This time I was a little positive about Garnier Ultra Blends Shampoo range so I ended up doing a Garnier Ultra Blends Revitalizing Shampoo Review for you guys.

Since I have an oily scalp I chose Garnier Ultra Blends Revitalizing Shampoo so that it will help my hair get back the bounce. My hair has thin strands and because of the high sebum content it tends to look flat and dull easily. I religiously follow the regime of washing my hair at least 4 times in a week. I used this Garnier Ultra Blends Revitalizing Shampoo after a few hours of oiling and it takes about two washes to completely remove the oil. Using it on a normal day without oiling shows best results. It might be not be a great choice for people with completely dry hair because it considerably lessens the sebum content in the scalp.

Overall I really like this shampoo as a daily shampoo. It cleans well and gives smooth soft hair. It never makes hair dry; also I haven’t noticed any extra hair fall. I like the Packaging  it is an apt size and you can easily keep it while travelling. My hair feels fresh as it has all the natural cleansers – lemon, henna, green tea, aloe and eucalyptus.. It also has a lemon fragrance that lingers on for a while. It leaves my hair super soft and shiny.

Price – Rs. 120 for 175ml

Pros –

  • affordable
  • easy to use
  • cleans well
  • contains natural products
  • paraben free
  • smells fresh
  • great for daily use

Cons –

  • You might not want to try something new
  • cannot compete with high end brands

Book review – Messages from the masters

We enjoyed a lot last night. It was indeed a happy day in my life. I had just told everyone that I was expecting my first child and we were on cloud nine.

Next morning I went to the doctor for my checkup, it had already been 2 months now but the doctor found something unusual.  She sent me for a few more tests when she told me not to worry but I did sense something. After two days when we got the reports we understood, it had been too early for a celebration.

The doctor finally told me that the baby was abnormal and we have to get rid of it. I yelled in disbelief, “Get rid of it!?” but we had no other option.

I cried, sat in the temple for hours and asked God to save me; waiting for a miracle to happen. My cousin dropped in and her honesty hit me, she said, “In There is no way that I can understand your pain and nothing that I have to say will reduce your grief but this is all that I have to give you” and she handed me a book. , Messages from the Masters by Brain Weiss, and I told her that I am not a reader and I don’t feel like reading.

She insisted a lot that I should start. The first few pages did not make any sense to me and in the meanwhile the doctor told me that we have to wait for a week before the abortion. So just crying, cursing and fighting with God I made another effort with the book (it was just a way of shooing off people who came to meet me)

The book spoke about people going into past lives and meeting their loved ones and resolving a lot of emotional issues, fin. Finding their soul mates in the present life and this induced some interest in me. Everyone in the family was telling me the same old thing, “beta, everything happens for your own good” but I could not figure out any good in it. I did not know how to console myself, I still had 5 more days with my baby; my heart sank.

I read ahead and during this one particular episode the woman was taken back to the time of her birth, in the womb before she was born and I could easily relate to it being a mother now. It showed how a child can hear and feel everyone around even before being born which explained how children whose parents are more welcoming towards the new born the baby become physically and emotionally stronger.

I read more experiences of people and it told spoke of how we decide to live with our loved ones at the soul level itself. It stresses on the point and has sufficient proof that we do come back to our loved ones and in most cases people have recognized their family members and close friends in other life-times. I started to meditate as per the book and my faith in God became stronger. I had become more spiritual and I could feel the healing.

The thing that struck me the most was that the writer of the book had suffered a similar tragedy- he lost his 24-day old son, I know how it must have felt but during a regression he found out that it had happened for his own success later in his life.

The toughest day of my life was here, but I did not cry even for a single moment. Because I know my baby is not going far from me.  Instead it (I don’t know whether it’s a she or he) is waiting for the right time to come into our life. I needed to let it go because it is for the larger good for all of us.

I feel stronger emotionally and thank you God for giving me such a wonderful experience for two months.

I sat in the car to come back home and my husband played the radio on which this song was playing-sang  “So close no matter how far”- and I hugged him tightly.
