We all have our mother’s or grand- mother’s beautiful saree collection that none of them wears. Moreover that stuff is so intricate and expensive that they would not want to give away easily. When I got down to open my grand-mom’s wardrobe shortly after she passed away I can’t start to tell you what amazing clothes I saw. She had saved her wedding saree and a lot of other sarees in designs I would not know of. With a few I loved the colors, with a few others I loved their borders and a few were made of such material which had not spoiled in so many years. I had the privilege of getting her wedding saree and all of you know what will be my next pick for a friend’s wedding.
Some clothes get dirty with time or some times a light color would not look as vibrant as it did earlier. The best thing is to go your dyer and dye it in a darker shade. It is advisable to keep the color family same for best results or else you could go with black. One can never go wrong with a sexy black saree.
Even if you pick up your an old saree I still insist on getting a new blouse. Even if you fit in it might not look as stunning. Opt in for a contrasting print with a plain saree and get it designed with the best back neck and add a latkan with a deep back to add oomph.
If you are absolutely not sure of the print combination you can go for the evergreen silver or gold depending on the color of work your sari has. Or you may just get a smart golden and silver blouse to avoid any confusion when you are borrowing sarees from anyone.
A border can be your savior when you are trying to renew an old sari go to market and pick up a printed border. Since floral and tie & dye is quite in you can go for the same border blouse combination to complete the look. It can help you add bling to a plain saree.
A stitch in time can save nine, literally when you fee you need to add glam to the old sari go for a different stitch. You could get the palla and get it attached to an entirely different fabric to create a new look. Half patterns are still available in the market and stitching also means no draping
When I picked up my grand-mom’s saree I went ahead and got a sexy golden blouse and brought life to the purple golden sari.
This Summer/Spring collection of Lakme Fashion Week brought about a new trend on the runway – Illuminate. Illuminate by definition means something that has an inner glow that shines and sparkles by itself. If you are someone keeping track of international makeup trends you would have definitely followed up on the illuminate technique of makeup and its product.
LAKMÉ ABSOLUTE ILLUMINATE is a collection by Lakme where it has a got a collection of new face makeup with a lot of shimmer and shine. I am loving how illuminate technique is making its way in our lives and I really like the collection.
Lakme Illuminate Collection has –
- 11 Lakme Absolute Gel Stylist
- 3 Lakme Absolute Precision Artist Eye Liner
- 2 Lakme Absolute Illuminating Eye Shadow Palette
- 15 Lakme Absolute Illuminating Lip Shimmer
Gel Stylist is a set of 11 nail paints which are good to go with all your outfits.
The Lakme Absolute Precision Artist Eye Liner is a retractable pencil with a rubber grip from the Lakme Illuminate Collection. The pencil is shaped differently unlike most other kohl pencils. The texture is creamy and something between a pencile and a liner. Since it has a great finish you can use it in various ways. You can easily outline your eyes and give a little oomph your eyes in just a few minutes. it is creamy enough and does not bleed easily, once you have got the perfect color with a few strokes it does not transfer. The pencil glides almost perfectly and has three colors – Burnished Brown, Emerald Green and Sapphire Blue. It is priced at 850
The Lakme Absolute Lip Shimmer is a new range of shimmery lipsticks from the illuminate collection. I always like shimmery lipsticks but I am not too fond of Lakme lipsticks because of a distinct strong smell they have. I find it in most of their lipsticks like this one too. These lipsticks are available in 15 shades and I am sure you can take your pick. These colors have a varied range of red and pinks. It is priced at 700.
The Lakme Absolute Illuminate Eye Shadow is available in two variants – Gold and Silver. This is the first time where Lakme has created shimmery eye shadow pallet and I would have them add on to a few more colors. Though I still feel the pallet has very wearable colors and you can use them for most of your outings. You might use them more for highlighting than for the shadow itself. It is priced at 995

Very recently Sugar has launched a range of new matte lip colors in most shades. Unlike most matte lipsticks in the earlier days Sugar has come up with a creamy – moisturising matte range with Sugar It’s A-Pout Time! Vivid Lipsticks. The Sugar It’s A-Pout Time! Vivid Lipsticks come in 4 shades – The Big Bang Berry, Breaking Bare, Mad Magenta and Caroline In The City.
SUGAR It’s A-Pout Time Vivid Lipstick has a creamy consistency that moisturises and spreads evenly on the lips. The stunning shades are highly pigmented and light-weight, providing maximum coverage in a few swipes. FDA approved, these lippies are free from mineral oil and parabens.
You’re the quintessential girl-next-door with a vivacious personality and an angelic smile. A die-hard romantic, you wear your heart on your sleeve and take relationships pretty seriously. Feminine and charming, we bet you’ll carry off Breaking Bare like you two were soul mates.
- The Big Bang Berry – This is my favorite from this range. I love the fresh berry color it gives to your lips. It is a more of an evening color.
- Breaking Bare – As the name suggests, it is a little on the nudish shade but not as nude. It can be paired up easily with heavy smokey makeup for parties.
- Mad Magenta – It is a summery pink and not exactly a magenta but a good regular shade. It can be paired up with most of your outfits and occasions.
- Caroline in the City – It is the only coral color in this range. It is again a regular coral shade and a great option for daily use.
Sugar It’s A-Pout Time! Vivid Lipsticks cost INR 599. It is a good product which is creamy enough not to dry your lips. I liked it pretty much and you can consider it with the choice of colors available. It is a long lasting formula which stays on your lips for at least 3-4 easily and leaves behind a slight tint. With all its qualities the lipstick is easily transferable and you might want to consider this while buying.

I am a hoarder for great scents so you can very well understand my love for The Body Shop products. Firstly let me tell you what a body sorbet is – Sorbet is frozen desert made of flavored sweetened water. If you ever had to apply strawberry sorbet on your body, it would feel exactly similar to the The Body Shop Strawberry Body Sorbet.
Recently I picked up The Body Shop Strawberry Body Sorbet from the local store. While I had to choose from the other flavors like The Body Shop Moringa Body Sorbet, The Body Shop Satsuma Body Sorbet and The Body Shop Mango Body Sorbet but since I have never tried something in strawberry scent I went ahead with this product.
The product comes in a soft plastic tube with a flip open cap which is perfect to let out the exact amount you need. It neither sticks nor oozes out while travelling.
The Body Shop Strawberry Body Sorbet has a very soft liquid like texture which is very easy to apply and can be absorbed well by any type of skin type. You gently need to massage it on your skin for best results. It is very light and refreshing and seems ideal for summers or humid climate. It has a fresh strawberry like scent which is light and nice which stays for some time after application.
Although it does not provide enough moisture if you have very dry skin or if you want to use it for winters. It would have been better if it had little more hydrating powers and people with oily and combination skin could have used it any time.
I still feel it’s USP is the sweet and fresh strawberry fragrance. While application it does not smell anything away from strawberries and that’s why it seems to be my favorite.
- light weighted
- easy application
- easily available
- non oily
- not hydrating enough
- can’t be used in winters

Za is a brand rolling a lot of eyeballs in the recent past. Za has lived up to its image for being sophisticated and for the urban woman. Most of these products being aimed at the enhancement of your already beautiful skin making the news. Today I have with you Za Perfect Solution Restoring Collagen Cream Review and this is the first time I am trying something from this brand head.
“This collagen cream makes wrinkles less visible and keeps your skin looking firm, smooth and youthful. It can improve and prevent wrinkles caused by dryness and aging, tighten slack skin and impart bouncy resilience.”
The product Za Perfect Solution Restoring Collagen Cream Review comes in an attractive pink packaging which is priced at INR 1199 for 40 gm. It has a user friendly bottle which you can carry around with ease.
I pretty much liked the texture of za perfect solution restoring collagen cream because it is not too sticky and spreads evenly on your face. Also it has a sweet fragrance which goes away soon after you apply it so that’s kind of an advantage for me. Usually I would not have too many smells gather me when I sleep. Though best suited for dry skin, it is good for people with natural skin but I am not too sure with the Indian oily skin type. Sometimes our skin gets so oily in summers that we hate to apply anything but splash water on our faces before sleeping, it won’t help you that day. Since it is the same product worldwide and it may not go very well with the Indian heat. I would still recommend it for the rest of the year because it does make you feel light and radiant for the next morning without much effort. It is dermatologist tested and does not clog on to your pores. Though it is not parabens free but good enough to go.

Diwali season is right here and I know most of you are running to your hometowns to celebrate festival of light with joy. Today, I bring to you one of my most favorite product for eye make up – Maybelline The Nudes Palette review. I seriously feel it can create your look in a few minutes making you feel confident without much hassle. Though Maybelline had introduced The Nudes Palette quite some time back but this festive season is the right time and place to flaunt it on your eyes. Remember, if you have got it, you need to flaunt it.
This is the Maybelline The Nudes Palette Review
The Nudes Palette has 12 shades which you can mix and match to create your favorite look. This palette provides with a multitude of permutations and combinations to try and create something wonderful every day of this week during Diwali. These are the swatches for you to decide and check
Size of the product – 9 gm
Priced at – INR 1165
The colors begin from the silver dust to a smokey black grey. As I already mentioned being a fan of The Nude Palette, I still feel it is priced a little higher than its contemporaries. Though it does guarantee a smooth free flow touch and it will be best used over a base to create a perfect look. You might want to avoid adding too much base because for some people like me, it instead makes it more and more oily. If you have oily eye-lid skin you will surely like it.
Get your act together with a light shade and use the dark brown to create a cat eye to match all your Indian outfits.
